What Will You Do With Jesus? (and other devotionals)

What Will You Do With Jesus?

~A. B. Simpson~

Jesus is standing in Pilate's hall,
Friendless, forsaken, betrayed by all;
Hearken! what meaneth the sudden call?
What will you do with Jesus?

What will you do with Jesus?
Neutral you cannot be;
Some day your heart will be asking,
"What will He do with me?"

Jesus is standing on trial still,
You can be false to Him if you will,
You can be faithful through good or ill:
What will you do with Jesus?

Will you evade him as Pilate tried?
Or will you choose Him, whate'er betide?
Vainly you struggle from Him to hide;
What will you do with Jesus?

Will you scorn from His foes to fly,
Daring for Jesus to live or die?
What will you do with Jesus?

"Jesus, I give Thee my heart today!
Jesus, I'll follow Thee all the way,
Gladly obeying Thee! will you say:
"This I will do with Jesus!"

Face to Face

~Carrie E. Breck~

Face to face with Christ my saviour,
Face to face - what will it be,
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ, who died for me?

Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!

Only faintly now I see Him,
With the darkened veil between;
But a blessed day is coming,
When His glory shall be seen.

What rejoicing in His presence,
When are banished grief and pain;
When the crooked ways are straightened,
And the dark things shall be plain!

Face to face! O blissful moment!
Face to face to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ, who loves me so.

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

~Charles Wesley~

Christ the Lord is risen today, Halleluah!
Sons of men and angels say: Halleluah!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Halleluah!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply: Halleluah!

Lives again our glorious King, Halleluah!
Where, O death,is now thy sting? Halleluah!
Dying once, He all doth save, Halleluah!
Where thy victory, O grave? Halleluah!

Love's redeeming work is done, Halleluah!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Halleluah!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Halleluah!
Christ hath opened paradise, Halleluah!

Soar we now where Christ hath led, Halleluah!
Following our exalted Head,Halleluah!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Halleluah!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Halleluah!

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal, Halleluah!
Christ hath burst the gates of hell, Halleluah!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Halleluah!
Christ hath opened paradise, Halleluah!

The Light and Glory of the Word

~William Cowper~

The Spirit breathes upon the word,
And brings the truth to sight;
Precepts and promises afford
A sanctifying light.

A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic like the sun;
It gives a light to every age,
It gives, but borrows none.

The hand that gave it still supplies
The gracious light and heat;
His truths upon the nations rise,
They rise, but never set.

Let everlasting thanks be thine,
For such a bright display,
As makes a world of darkness shine
With beams of heavenly day.

My soul rejoices to pursue
The steps of Him I love,
Till glory break upon my view
In brighter worlds above.

What Is He Like?

Being the Spirit of Jesus, the Holy Spirit will be found to be exactly like Jesus!

Some folks have actually been frightened by others making claims of being filled with the Spirit and then acting in every other way but like the Spirit.

Some who say they are filled with the Spirit are very stern and harsh and abusive. Others are found doing weird and unlawful things and they say, "That's the Holy Spirit."

My brother, the Holy Spirit is exactly like Jesus, just as Jesus is exactly like the Father. "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father" (John 14:9) Jesus said, and added,

Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth ... He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you (16:13-14).

Jesus say saying, in essence, "The Spirit will demonstrate Me to you!"
